Never had had now become my calming down song. i have to pull myself away from reality and listen to this just to get myself back to normal. i talked to mental health today. they told me i should teach to help cope with my problems and also to help others with theirs.

i also find writing on here calming for the sole fact that no one i know personally knows me on here.

280 days ago i was saying goodbye to KAF. i took my last whiff of the poo pond, loaded my stuff on the plane, and said my final farewell as i laid on the ground in the shadow of the plane to take me home. today i found myself back here. so in an homage to all the memories that this place had brought me, i went to The Burger Joint and got myself a cheeseburger and a hadji mountain dew. as i sat on the boardwalk looking out onto the soccer field i reminisced on the time i spent here. as much as people bitch about being in country i cant help but to feel at home here. My first deployment, so much learned, so many good times had, new experiences taken in, they all happened right here.

its surreal to me that just the sight and smell of this place can bring so much back in an instant. i of course love the new team and am happy to be seeing different things but my time here will never be forgotten due to the people i was here with that made my time here worth it.

No matter what i will always be a Renegade. Any time i hear Bad Company i will think about rolling. i will see a pit bull and remember Frontenac. i will never forget the monotone “Rollover, rollover, rollover”. i will always look for a turkey burger at the DFAC. Snow will make me think of Brophy falling in the mud. i will always miss sleeping in the MRAP. i’ll retell my first “IDF” that turned out to be outgoing fire a million times. ill remember the Brachial Stunts on the smoke deck and the bear suit that almost got the smoke deck locked down. ill always sing Mankini to myself during step off. ill think about chief spitting every time I’m in a mission brief.

we tore it up. we had a blast and we all made it through in one piece…. well aside from Jared’s busted ass knee.

We all went our separate ways and are doing our own things now but when it comes down to it we’re all still Renegades.
